Testing Methodology

 

Ambient Air temperature was measured at all times, this also included a hardware sensor probe for measuring air going into the Eclipse two and another testing for air out. All processor results where obtained using ‘Realtemp’ at idle then full load and finally in an ‘overclocked’ configuration in the aforementioned setup. It is also worth noticing as standard in ALL out tests we use Innovation Cooling’s wonderful IC7 Diamond thermal compound, rather than the standard gunk which can vary with each manufacturer.

It is also worth noting that the Eclipse Two dual fans were set on a ‘push-pull’ configuration. Lastly Prime 95 and Real temp was run for before any of the temperature measurements where taken (that is full load stock and overclocked) Only readings of the HOTTEST core was taken.

Note: Overclockerstech is mainly a ‘Water Cooling enthusiasts’ website and as such we can only review this product by its own merits-rather than comparing it to another product, as all our testing is configured for a liquid cooled-based enviroment.

 

Equipment Used
  • Core I5 750 (Socket 1155) Intel Cpu
  • Asus P7P55 PRO motherboard
  • 4GB Gskill Ripjaw 2000Mhz RAM

Results:

The charts below show the temperatures of all the CPU cores at defualt settings in both idle and after one hour of ‘Prime 95′

All ambient Room temperatures were at 17.8c

For Idle the air in temperature was 18c and for air out 18.3c Full Load 18.3 and 19.5

In the overclocked configuration Idle Air temperature was 18.1 for air in and 18.4 for air out. Lastly for full load air in 19.1 air out 20.2

 

Obviously this would be much better than your standard Intel Cooler, However one feels that it performs on par with most coolers of its price range but obviously with these temperatures it wouldnt be on a par with a professional water cooling kit. However the aforementioned kit can cost between £120 to £800 (depending on cooling configuration) then for your everyday overclocking for an air cooler such as this one, is all that you should need. However this cooler is rather large, so make sure you have plenty of room inside your case to take full advantage.
