Thermaltake VL20001W2Z Element V Review

Lets take a look inside the Element V, immediately noticable is the fact the interior is bare steel, unlike the Armour A90 which was reviewed by us just over a month ago. Although this is not a major issue it would have been nice to have seen a black interior.
The motherboard tray does however come with a hole around the CPU mount, making the changing of the CPU cooler that much easier and also 4 holes around the edge to facilitate cable management.
There is a mass of cables for all the top panel connections, however this is hidden rather nicely behind the front bays with only 4 cables actually making their way into the visable area of the case itself, a nice touch.
The mounting holes on the motherboard tray are all very well identified and the tray itself has a list of which holes are to be used for differing sizes of board, again a nice touch for someone who is not too sure.
Also included is the usual box of screws, standoffs etc that will be needed to install all your hardware.
While ThermalTake seem to have tried to make a better job of removing sharp edges from the steel construction sadly there are still a lot of sharp and rough edges inside, so care will be needed if you wish to keep all your fingers intact. Perhaps this is one area ThermalTake can look to improve upon in the future.

Continuing our look at the internals of the Element V we will focus on the included fans. The case comes with 3 x 120mm fans(1 on each removable HDD caddy and a single exhaust fan), 1 x 200mm top panel fan and a 230mm side panel fan. Given the amount of fans the Element V ships with cooling and air flow should be more than enough for even a high demand system. The drivebay front cover also comes fitted with filters to help cut down on the amount of dust entering the case.

Our last look around the internals of the Element V revolves around the drive bays and the mounting mechanism in use.  As can be seen in the following pictures it is a completely tool free design, making installation and removal of the various drives quick and painless. For those that also like the security of screwing drives in place this case also has a screw hole in each bay if you so wish to use it.
