CES 2012: A Glimpse Into The Future

With over 150,000 people in attendance and 3100 exhibitors vying for their attention, I managed to find my way around well enough to see some of the best that support OverclockersTech with review samples. Crammed into the Las Vegas Convention Center and several different hotel suites around the city, it’s impossible to see everything in the limited amount of time I had available, so I concentrated my efforts on those vendors that most closely match the reviews we publish.

It didn’t take long while walking the different areas of CES to realize the buzz words this year were “Smart” and “Wireless”. Everything it seems is going “smart” these days, from televisions to phones and everything in between. With new wireless technology just around the corner that promises greater access and faster speeds, the possibilities are endless for implementing devices of all kinds to utilize these new technologies.

While it is easy to get caught up in the new electronic gadgets coming out soon, alas we are a computer enthusiast site and I needed to stay focused!

Introduction

Many case manufacturers vie for the title of a ‘Water Cooling Ready Product’ however few actually get it right, many even ‘half-attempt’ this by drilling three holes at the back of the chassis and say it is compatible with Water Cooling. However, the consumer is not so easily fooled and neither are the writers at Overclockers Tech. As far as we are concerned, if the product is unable to accommodate at least one 240mm sized radiator, then it is our opinion it is not fit for the purpose.

Raidmax recently sent another of their new release chassis for review – this mid tower offering called the “Seiran”. Raidmax has been very busy lately releasing several new chassis designs and giving their customers many options when deciding on a case for a new build or upgrade. The Seiran chassis comes in a white, red, or black version. Today, we will be reviewing the black option. The Raidmax claim to fame is offering good looking, high quality, and affordable products. The good folks at Raidmax were kind enough to send along their new release Viper mid tower case for review today. Raidmax has been around since 1988, so obviously they are not the new kid on the block. Over the years Raidmax has offered products generally geared towards those on a budget, all the while attempting to give a quality product at an affordable price.
